Hi,
so my first days at the University of Trier are over. I don’t get lost anymore, my agenda is set and
everything seems to be working out just fine. So far I have a really good impression of the university.
Everybody is very friendly and you can feel the wine culture of this region. The Mensa also offers
quite decent food – even though sometimes I believe the portions could be a little bigger. The Mensa
is still really affordable though, as you can get a meal for as low as 1,60 Euros.

The psychology department is one of the biggest in Germany and seems to be quite decent too.
Even all the administrative stuff has worked out so far (which is by far the best performance I have
ever seen in a german university). Due to the really big amount of people that were admitted this semester the rooms are quite stuffed,
but I thing that will cease soon once everyone is set.

The only thing that really needs some work to be done on is the library. It has just been refurbished -
however, this only makes a nice picture
on the outside.
On the inside, there are not enough books, and it is costly and time lengthy to order the books you
need (which you can do only 20-page-wise). Also there is not the possibility of downloading online literature from services like psychindex,
which is a major backdraft in my eyes.

The University itself on the other side is worth a look, as it is a campus on top of the city within a
park like environment. There is plenty of space in the parking lots and it’s not problematic to use public transportation as well. You just might not want to use your bike to
go to University because of the steep hills.

So after all, I do have a good impression of the University and I am glad I made it here.
